Trip Home

by Bron Skinner 20. September 2009 19:53

I took the weekend to go visit my family. My Aunt and Uncle from up North (Coke and Didi) and my most distant Aunt (Melissa) from way up North came down to visit for what was in effect a tri-birthday celebration. My Mother, Aunt, and Grandmother have had recent birdthdays. We spent yesterday morning at the farmer's market and then ate a brunch of sorts at the Weaver Street Market. My Girlfriend (Kim) and Sister slept in and met up with us later. I ended up showing Kim around town - we walking up and down Franklin Street, tried one of those Bubble Teas (I made jokes about how the chewy bits looked like bunny droppings), and ended up back near the Farmer's Market to pick up a pair of earrings my Mother had pointed out earlier.

Dinner was hosted at my third Aunt's house (Mimi) here - Salmon, Risotto, and Salad. We ended the evening with a musical performance from (in the end everyone contributed a little) my Aunt Mimi and Uncle (Daniel).

Today Kim and I are going to visit with my Father for lunch. She has yet to meet him so the experience should prove interesting. This was actually her first meeting of my family - I decided why not just meet everyone in one fell swoop?

I'll be honest, I look forward to getting home although I do really appreciate everyone taking the time (not to mention resources) to get together. It's not every day that you get to spend time with all of your loved ones at once.
